Grab your coffee and join us online to hear fresh insights from the Pohjois-Savo region, covering topics such as regional expertise, recruitment, and settlement services.

As part of the Talent First project, we are conducting essential studies and surveys related to our operations. These will be shared through webinar-style information sessions. Each session will last 30–45 minutes, beginning with a presentation of the study followed by a Q&A or discussion. The sessions will be held monthly throughout spring 2025 and will be conducted in Finnish.

Session 1: Recruitment-related training and support services for companies

This study explores the training opportunities and support services available for companies and employers in Pohjois-Savo. It highlights the educational offerings and services regularly provided to support recruitment needs. The study identifies existing gaps in the region’s training and support services for businesses and outlines locally available training opportunities, as well as national online training programs and advisory services accessible to all.

Session 2: Settlement services

From the perspective of regional attractiveness and retention, understanding the service offerings available to skilled workers for relocation and settlement is crucial. This study organizes information about settlement-related services and providers in Pohjois-Savo, including integration support.

The study covers services for students and working-age populations, both Finnish-speaking and international. It includes offerings from municipalities, educational institutions, and other organizations, focusing on areas such as integration and job-seeking. A workshop with key regional stakeholders (held August 30, 2024) served as a preliminary mapping exercise. The study clarifies and complements this information by creating a comprehensive service pathway or roadmap.

Session 3: Summary report on regional surveys

This report provides a regional perspective on the availability of skilled workers, attractiveness, and collaboration. It gathers insights from Pohjois-Savo businesses and stakeholders about local skill needs and workforce availability. The report combines data from surveys conducted in the region and supplements it with targeted interviews to fill gaps.

Session 4: Ecosystems in Pohjois-Savo (four sectors)

The study aims to highlight the ecosystems of selected industries in Pohjois-Savo and the opportunities they present to skilled professionals and potential entrepreneurs. It identifies key players (companies, educational institutions, research centers, and other actors), networks and communities operating in the region, and recurring events and fairs relevant to each industry.

Session 5: Recruitment practices

This study provides an overview of recruitment practices used by companies in Pohjois-Savo and at the national level, with a particular focus on attracting international talent. It compiles existing data and examines recruitment strategies aligned with the Finnish government’s targeted country recruitment programs (India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Brazil) and their potential regional applications.
