Welcome to morning coffee with new insights, starting February 12!

Prepare your coffee and join us for a series of insightful webinars covering new findings from the Pohjois-Savo region. These sessions will focus on topics such as regional expertise, recruitment, and relocation services.

As part of the Talent First project, we are conducting essential studies and surveys relevant to these themes. The findings will be presented in brief morning coffee webinars, each lasting 30-45 minutes. The sessions will begin with a presentation on the study results, followed by a Q&A session or discussion. The webinars will take place monthly throughout spring 2025 and will be held in Finnish.

Session 1: Training and Support Services for Business Recruitment

The study provides an overview of the training offerings in Pohjois-Savo and the organizations that regularly provide training and recruitment support services for companies/employers.

Pohjois-Savo has lacked a comprehensive overview of available training and support services that aid company recruitment efforts. This study maps the training opportunities available to companies in the region that support their recruitment needs, as well as the recruitment-related support services. It considers both locally organized training and national online training and advisory services open to all.

The study report will be published in March 2025 and is conducted by MDI Public c/o FCG Finnish Consulting Group Oy.

Session 2: Settlement services

From the perspective of regional attractiveness and retention, it is crucial to analyze the availability of services that support talent relocating to the area. This study provides a structured overview of settlement-related services and service providers in Pohjois-Savo, including aspects related to integration.

The study covers support services for students and the working-age population, both Finnish-speaking and international talents. It includes services and channels provided by municipalities, educational institutions, and other organizations, covering topics such as integration and job-seeking. A workshop with key stakeholders in Pohjois-Savo was held on August 30, 2024, to preliminarily map these services. This study refines and clarifies the overall offering from a settlement services perspective, creating a structured service pathway/roadmap.

The study report will be published between March and April 2025 and is conducted by MDI Public c/o FCG Finnish Consulting Group Oy.

Session 3: Summary report on regional surveys

The report brings together a regional perspective on the need for skilled professionals and the availability situation, the attractiveness of the area, and cooperation between stakeholders. The aim of the study is to map out the current and future situation in North Savo. The report compiles the survey data already gathered from the North Savo region and supplements it with additional interviews to fill in the missing information. The report highlights, among other things, recurring observations, development needs, and opportunities.

The study report will be published in April 2025 and is conducted by Männikkömetsä Oy.

Session 4: Ecosystems in North Savo (four sectors)

The study aims to highlight the ecosystem of selected industries in Pohjois-Savo and the opportunities they offer for professionals and potential entrepreneurs considering the region. It maps and visualizes key actors in the industry (companies, educational institutions, research organizations, and other key stakeholders), communities and networks that sector players can join, and annual industry-related events and fairs.

The sectors covered in the study are:

  2. Technology Industry
  3. Tourism
  4. Health and Wellbeing Technology

Session 5: Recruitment practices

This study examines the recruitment practices of regional companies in Pohjois-Savo and national organizations when hiring international talent—both from abroad and those already residing in Finland. The study collects insights into companies’ preparedness and recruitment practices, as well as onboarding and integration processes within the workplace. The presentation will showcase examples from Pohjois-Savo and is based on the PIKEUS study.
